Losing a phone is stressful, but quick action can protect your accounts and data. First, try calling the device and check nearby locations. If it is truly gone, sign in to your account from another device and use Find My or Find My Device to locate, lock, or erase it. Change passwords for email, banking, and social apps, starting with the accounts that can reset other logins. Enable two-factor authentication where it is not already active, and prefer an authenticator app or security key over SMS when possible. Contact your carrier to suspend service and report the IMEI if required in your country. Review recent account activity for unfamiliar sessions, devices, or recovery changes. Notify your bank if payment apps or cards were accessible. Finally, restore from a trusted backup only after the device is secure, and write down your recovery codes in a safe offline place.
